8th Mediterranean Film festival is starting tonight in summer movie theatre “Bacvice” at 21:30 with a regional premiere of Italian-Albanian movie “Sworn virgin”. 66 movies from 31 countries will be screened in three locations during the nine days of the festival, until 13th June, with eight regional and three national movie premieres as a part of feature programme.
In total, residents of Split and their guests have the chance to see 45 movies as the first ones in Croatia, including titles that marked the year in Mediterranean countries; titles which haven’t been yet or won’t be a part of cinema distribution.
Besides “Sworn Virgin” a debut film by Laura Bispuri that won over audience and jury on this year’s Berlinale, festival is opening also with a screening of a short film “Medo mali” by Igor Jelinović.
For the first time, Mediterranean Film Festival will be screening movies from Scandinavia and Mexico that are outside the competition, to introduce the audience with a travelling project of “Kino Mediteran” that for the past three summers has been successfully opening more than 20 closed summer theatres all over the coast and islands.
Every night after the screening, among the pine trees of the summer theatre “Bacvice”, different parties are organised, that are ideal for first summer night outs and mingling of the movie makers and the audience.
