Malu is a mercurial, unemployed actress living with her mother in a Rio de Janeiro slum, in a precarious house that she has been planning to turn into an art center. Always full of ideas that she never carries out, Malu survives on memories of her glorious artistic past while her distinctive character dominates in every company, including her own family. When her estranged daughter comes to visit her after a long time, they try to reconnect.
A brilliant performance by Brazilian actress Yara de Novaes dominates this realistic and touching family story based on the relationship between director Pedro Freire and his mother. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
