During the fall of communism in Albania in 1990, ship mechanic Alexander Gruda and several of his friends hatched a piratical plan to steal a warship in order to flee the country and take their families to freedom. Against all odds - weathering mortar guns, helicopters, and machine gun fire - they succeeded, but not without consequences.
Documentary film by the young Albanian director and screenwriter Ardit Sadiku follows the epic journey of a group of brave people, which is considered one of the most fascinating undertakings in Albanian history. The film was selected as the Albanian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.
