“From Friday to Friday”, a somewhat forgotten 1985 film by director Antun Vrdoljak, as a part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the birth of Miljenko Smoje, who had written the film's script, is getting a new - digital life.
The reels have been transferred to a format adapted for the 21st century cinemas, so it can now be shown in every part of the world, thus ensuring a long cinematic future.
It will be shown for the first time in Split at a special screening, as an announcement of the 16th Mediterranean Film Festival Split, on 6 June at 10 pm in the bowels of the Tin Ujević ferry of the Croatian shipping company Jadrolinija fleet, which joined the celebration in this way and made it even more attractive.
- Mediterranean Film Festival Split was happy to participate in the programme to mark the Miljenko Smoje year called “Smoje's 100”, and we must thank the Organizing Committee of the event for the invitation and support to organize a truly special screening. From the very beginning, our desire was to find something that the audience had not seen for a long time, and that is why I am extremely pleased that we managed to organize the screening of this true Split and Dalmatian film.
I must also thank director Antun Vrdoljak for granting the film rights, as well as the Croatian State Archive - Croatian Cinematheque for digitizing the copy of the film, which made it available for a wider audience. In addition to this special screening announcing the 16th FMFS, we will also participate in the anniversary as Kino Mediteran: we will show the film during the summer at the Bačvice Summer Cinema and at other Kino Mediteran locations - said Alen Munitić, artistic director of FMFS and Kino Mediteran.
The main role in the film is played by the legendary Boris Dvornik, who as a bank clerk, irritated by the monotony of life, travels around the islands in a boat and gets into a series of fun, but also bizarre adventures. The music in the film is composed by Arsen Dedić, and in addition to Boris Dvornik, Smoje's characters are played by other acting doyens: Zdravka Krstulović, Josip Genda, Katja Zupčić, Vladimir Rupčić,...
