Through carefully selected film programmes, the Mediterranean Film Festival Split aims to introduce the youngest audience to good quality local and European productions, introduce them to independent cinemas and encourage education through entertainment. As part of the Little Mediterranean programme, animated and feature films - short and long - for all ages, from 3+ years old, are being screened this year as well!
Oscar nominated and with a number of important awards, "Robot Dreams" is the first animated film by Spanish director Pablo Berger, known to the FMFS audience for the film "Snow White", which will delight both children (10+) and adult fans of this genre. For 7-year-old children, "The Fox and the Hare Save the Forest" is a warm family story about friendship, and the French award-winning cartoon "Nina and the Hedgehog's Secret" has been dubbed into Croatian by the participants of the FMFS workshop.
In cooperation with the Animation Festival Network, two blocks of short cartoons for the youngest will be shown for free, one on the theme of friendship, the other on the theme of ecology. The third block called "Blon 10" is a programme of short animated films that FMFS brings in cooperation with the Lithuanian Animation and Games Festival BLON. For those of a slightly older age (14+), the programme includes an excellent educational documentary film "Unclickable", which shows the impact of virtual fraud.
The creative workshop "Movie posters through children’s eyes" will be held after the screening of the short film "Magical Friendships", under the guidance of Ivana Antunović, in cooperation with Split Nomad Gallery.
"Quiet picture books, loud illustrations" is a workshop guided by Hana Tintor, where children will create their own story in five illustrations (each is a part of the story: introduction, plot, climax, denouement, the end). After illustrating, they will design the cover and give their story a name, and ultimately take it home with them.
"From an idea to a video game" is the name of the two-day workshop that will be guided by Josip Barun, in cooperation with Aniq Tech from Novska, during which children will create their own video game, and then be able to share it with family and friends.
The dubbing workshop "Voice your cinema!" is guided by Luka Rukavina and Vojan Koceić, and the children will be tasked with bringing the characters to life on the big screen with their voices.
