11th FMFS, the most visited cultural event in Dalmatia, started at open air cinema Bačvice with Croatian premiere of Italian film 'Il colore nascosto delle cose'. Despite a small delay caused by technical difficulties, more than 1000 visitors were present, honouring the new beginning of this monumental city location that from now on will be exclusively dedicated to film and culture.
The audience was truly impressed after the screening of 'Cyclists' by director Veljko Popović, who using animation brought to life characters of painter Vasko Lipovac . The film is running for 11.000 kn money prize for the winner of short film programme 'Jeske'.
I am really happy that City of Split is the head of its summer stage, starting again with festival like FMFS, which has been bringing our city to the world film stage for the past decade. What is more important, even after these 10 days we are moving on with our programme at this location, but with new concept and new appearance- said Jelena Hrgović, Vice Mayor of Split.
2nd day of FMFS starts at 19h with Croatian premiere of a controversial documentary film 'Lovettovi' by Igor Bezinović, about a young couple that makes money using a web camera and letting strangers into their bedroom. Right after, 'Chien' by Samuel Benchetrit will be screened.
If the weather permits,'Marica' by Judita Gamulin will be screened at Bačvice, as a part of 'Jeske', and there is a great interest for 'Reports on Sarah and Saleem' by Muayad Alayan, following the love story of forbidden love of Israeli woman and Palestinian man, which audience declared as the best long feature film at Rotterdam Film Festival.
