The British Guardian has put the Mediterranean Film Festival Split on the list as one of the best European summer film festivals. FMFS starts in less than a month.
- The second largest city in Croatia is full of historical sites, museums, and clubs, but its beautiful location by the sea is also an ideal place for a wonderful film festival. During the day, the screenings take place in a cinema inside the 1700 year-old Diocletian’s palace. The focus of the program are films produced by Mediterranean countries that can often be seen only on this festival – says the Guardian article, and this puts Split in the company of cities such as Venice, San Sebastian, Locarno, Annecy, and Karlovy Vary.
We are finally going back to the old normal, and the Mediterranean Film Festival Split is announcing the biggest edition yet, with new programs and a new location! This is the 15 th edition of the favorite Dalmatian, cultural event, and it’s bringing more films than ever. The films will be screened in open-air cinema Bačvice, Golden Gate (Zlatna Vrata) cinema, in front of Youth Center Split, and in a new location: the north-eastern bastion of the Gripe fort.
This is the first time that the Mediterranean Film Festival Split is being held with the support of Creative Europe and its strand- MEDIA, which are used by the European Commission to support film festivals.
This puts FMFS in the company of other European film festivals. Thanks to the support from Creative Europe, the organizers will expand the industry program with a series of workshops and lectures for film industry professionals. There will also be a new program in a new cinema inside the Gripe fort where FMFS will screen films produced outside of the Mediterranean, and a part of the program will be for children and young adults of all ages.
