Favourite event in Split starts with'Il Colore Nascosto Delle Cose' by Silvio Soldini, sponsored by 'Istituto Italiano di Cultura'. The competition programme, focused this year on Italian cinematography, comprises as well the first musical depicting mafia 'Amore e malavita' , musical that brought five national awards to the directors duo Manetti, including the one for Best Motion Picture. 'Sicilian Ghost Story', which had its premiere at Cannes, is a part of the programme as well.
'The Reports On Sarah And Saleem', depicting forbidden love between an Israeli woman and Palestinian man, won two awards in Rotterdam for the director Muayad Alayan. Syrian- Lebanese documentary film'Of Father And Sons' received recognitions all over the world, one of them being Jury Prize at Sundance. Turkish 'Kelebekler' (Butterflies) by Tolga Karaçelik, having the perfect title for open air events, was also one of the winners of Sundance Film Festival.
Spanish film makers are always welcome at Bacvice and this year they are being represented by 'Handia', for which Jon Garrano and Aitor Arregi won ten Goya awards and Jury Award at San Sebastian.'Chien' , is the new film by our acquintance Samuel Benchetrit, while for fans of Greek New Wave Cinema we included 'Oiktos' by Babis Makridis.
FMFS will give its audience the chance to see 'Una mujer fantastica' , the Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film, but also a French- Lebanese 'L'insulte' by Ziad Doueiri that was part of the competition for the same award.
Considering the previously announced programme outside competition, 'Las Heredas' by Marcello Martinessi stands out for winning three awards at the recent Berlinale. Mexican 'Time Share' won the Best Scripture Award at the recent Sundance, and also 'The Guilty' that won audience award at Sundance and Rotterdam, so it is not exaggerating to say that FMFS in its 11th edition has become relevant in a wider sense.
Taking into consideration that we had had the chance to see all these titles in Rotterdam and Berlin, the programme was already arranged in February. Therefore, we were really impatient to share all these details with our audience because it is extremely difficult to find a film this year that is worth skipping. Not only that we ensured the high quality of the long feature programme, but we are also proud that more and more local film makers choose our short film programme 'Jeske' to screen their films for the first time. We are looking forward to their long feature film premieres at Bacvice in the years to come- said Alen Munitić, festival manager.
'Cyclists' by Veljko Popović are opening short film competition programme 'Jeske', screened prime time in front of hundreds of viewers. Followed by films by Igor Bezinović, Judita Gamulin, Arsen Oremović, Ivan Ramljak, Igor Jelinović and others, while director Vlatka Vorkapić will be screening for the first time her featurette 'Pusti Dobre, pusti'.
