The Mediterranean Film Festival Split organizes a dubbing workshop as part of the Industry programme, where young actors, in a professional environment, will have the opportunity to research and learn about the importance of adaptation and dubbing quality, and its impact on the youngest audience.
Although dubbing is the most controversial discipline, the question of necessity or necessary evil, especially when it comes to independent European film, and in the context of educating the audience from an early age, is undoubtedly in favour of dubbing those works.
As the youngest audience is regularly exposed to works of questionable quality, which greatly affect their upbringing, as well as the attitude of children towards the content they consume, we consider it extremely important to educate actors with the aim of developing this segment better.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, 17 June 2023, and all interested acting students from the Republic of Croatia can apply. Accommodation is provided for workshop participants coming in outside of Split. We invite all interested parties to apply with a short biography and a motivational letter to industry@fmfs.hr, and the application deadline is June 1, 2023.
It is organised under the mentorship of Bojan Kondres, who in over 20 years of work on film sound and dubbing records collaborations with all the world's major film studios, under the leadership of director Luka Rukavina, who has over 20 dubbed works of major film studios under his directorial baton, and collaboration with Vojan Koceić, a musician and music producer, an audio and video engineer with experience in the production of music and film works, and the owner of the Pilot Studio from Split, where the workshop will be held, and the actors will have the opportunity to experience this segment of acting work as well.
The participants will work on the dubbing of a short film, which will premiere at the Bačvice Open-Air Cinema and will be shown during the Kino Mediteran summer tour.
