One of the treats of this year’s Industry programme, taking place at Kinoteka Zlatna vrata on Friday, June 16th at 5pm, is our virtual-but-live event with Robert McKee’s, the author of “Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting”, a book and masterclass that has and keeps inspiring thousands of film professionals around the world.
What is it that makes “Story” that unique, and how come that his students have received 65 Oscars and hundreds of other awards will be among the things we will surely hear of from Robert McKee live from his home in the U.S.
His remarkable and widely-known book on the art of screenwriting has been translated into 25 languages, being finally available in Croatian now as well, and will be presented during the event. It is not just a simple book on screenwriting only being meant for screenwriters; it is more of a “bible” on the art of storytelling, aimed to those into writing of any kind, but also readers eager to explore the secrets of good storytelling and the importance of its protagonists.
The talk with McKee will be moderated by Nikola Kuprešanin (screenwriter and director), and Kristina Tešija (journalist and independent critic) will be in conversation with Jelena Tabak, the woman behind the Croatian translation and its publishing company, revealing her story and drive to translate this exact book after so many years.
The event is organized in cooperation with the publishing company “Parola mia”, a local and Split-based boutique publisher & translation services company.
Entrance fee to the event is free of charge, but due to limited seats, a place needs to be booked following this LINK.
