Mediterranean Film Festival Split is organizing a dubbing workshop, where young actors are going to get the opportunity to learn about the importance of quality adaptation and dubbing, and their influence on the youngest members of the audience, and all that in a professional setting. The workshop is a part of the Industry program.
Dubbing in Croatia is a sensitive subject, whether it is necessary or not when it comes to independent European cinematography. But when it comes to educating the youngest members of the audience, it is undoubtedly necessary to dub these films. Children are often exposed to works of questionable quality that influence their education and their relationship to the content they watch, and we think it is very important to educate actors in order to further the quality of this craft.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, June 18th 2022, and acting students from Croatia can apply. We will organize proper accommodation for students that do not reside in Split.
The workshop will be led by: Bojan Kondres, who has 20 years’ worth of experience working on sound and dubbing in movies, and has worked with some of the world’s largest film studios; Luka Rukavina, who has worked as a dubbing director on over 20 films produced by big companies; and Tonči Bakotin, who teaches music-tone technology, is a musician and sound producer, and owns the studio that will host the workshop. Students are going to be given an opportunity to see this part of being an actor in a real studio.
The participants are going to work on dubbing a trailer for a Swedish animated film, which will premiere at the Festival. The results are going to be shown before the screening of the film in open-air cinema Bačvice, on Sunday, June 19th 2022.
We invite all students interested in attending to apply with a short bio and motivational letter at industry@fmfs.hr. The deadline is June 7th, 2022.
