We are finally going back to the old normal, and the Mediterranean Film Festival Split is announcing the biggest edition yet, with new programs and a new location!
This is the 15th edition of the favorite Dalmatian, cultural event, and it’s bringing more films than ever. The films will be screened in open-air cinema Bačvice, Golden Gate (Zlatna Vrata) cinema, in front of Youth Center Split, and in a new location: the north-eastern bastion of the Gripe fort.
FMFS begins in exactly one month (June 16th-25th) and we present this year’s Mediterranean inspired visual identity by Split’s designer Karlo Kazinoti.
- I wanted this year’s poster to be different in design from the previous years, but I wanted it to still tell its Mediterranean story. The poster is dominated by beach sand, a great inspiration to kids and grown-ups. It’s a fun material with which one can play games, build castles, and it can be mischievous if you let your hair down. The most popular activity is to bury ourselves in the sand and then emerge like a troublemaker, and since FMFS always covers us in films, like the sand, it will be a great pleasure and a challenge to see the entirety of this year’s program,- said Kazinoti.
This is the first time that the Mediterranean Film Festival Split is being held with the support of Creative Europe and its strand- MEDIA, which are used by the European Commission to support film festivals. This puts FMFS in the company of other European film festivals.
- It is extremely important to us that this support is multiannual, and that means we have financial support for 2022 and 2023 which allows us to expand our program. So we have created “Parangal” a program for films outside of the Mediterranean area, and we will offer films for all ages in our program for kids and young adults.
Thanks to the support from Creative Europe we will strengthen the industry program with a series of workshops and lectures for film industry professionals that are coming to Split for FMFS. All of this is guaranteed to bring back the ‘hubbub’ we have missed for the past two years – says director Alen Munitić who thanked FMFS’ partners, Croatian Audiovisual Center, the city of Split and the Tourist Board of Split.
The “Festival tickets”, that can be used to see multiple screenings for a special price, will be available from May 26th. Individual tickets are going to be put on sale as soon as the program is announced, in the beginning of June. All ticket details will be available on www.fmfs.hr
Those who wish to volunteer for this popular event can still apply by May 20th. Online application is available on fmfs.hr, and FMFS needs movie enthusiasts to work in cinemas, on ticket booths and information booths and to distribute marketing materials.
