Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia in association with the Mediterranean Film Festival Split organises the first ever workshop under the title How to Develop and Present Projects for International Market, leading to a Pitching Forum in the first part of the festival.
The workshop will offer guidelines to professionals, primarily directors and screenwriters, as well as suitable answers to the questions about how to prepare and present a personal project to a professional audience – producers, distributers, sales agents and the broader public – most efficiently.
The renowned and experienced German film producer Roshanak Behesht Nedjad, who made a name for herself by producing many films (Bye Bye Germany – premiered this year at Berlinale Special Gala, Havanna mi amor – Golden Lola for best documentary, Khamosh Pani – Golden Leopard for best film, Football Undercover – Prix Europa Iris), is in charge of implementing the workshop. Behesht Nedjad is a member of the European and German Film Academy and an alumna and mentor at the most famous European training programme for film producers, EAVE – European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs.
The workshop is intended for film professionals and film students, primarily directors and screenwriters. Although it will focus on short fiction or documentary projects (provided that they are related thematically to Split or the Mediterranean, or that they are filmed in or around Split), the call is open to feature-length projects as well.
The umbrella initiative Ujedinjeni otoci / Islands United and the audience development project Kino Mediteran aim at strengthening collaboration between European island countries, also 'small' countries, members of the MEDIA Sub-programme: Cyprus, Ireland, Iceland, Malta and Croatia. Although in selecting entries for this workshop priority will be given to Croatian projects, a chance for participation will be given to one project team from: Cyprus, Ireland, Iceland and Malta.
Ten projects will be selected for participation and submissions can be entered starting from today until 5 May 2017.
It is our immense pleasure to announce that the best short pitch will be awarded a cash prize of around 1.350 EUR, sponsored by Uje Ltd. company. The winning feature fiction project, depending on the development stage, will earn three counselling/mentoring awards within a six-month period, to be conducted by expert Roshanak Behesht Nedjad following a detailed and comprehensive film analysis.
